Isis provides a standard tool to allow the automatic importing
of information in to the Isis Data Inventory called IsisImporter.exe.
The IsisImporter.exe file can be located in the directory
that Isis was installed. Currently only Tuxedo txrpt data
can be imported, however we expect to extend this capability
to other data types in the future.
If you wish to use the IsisImporter on a regular basis (for
example to import files which have been FTP'd to the machine)
then we would suggest configuring a Scheduled Task on the
machine which is running the Isis console. This scheduled
task should run the IsisImporter on a regular basis passing
the parameters below to indicate what report should be generated
and how regularly this should happen.
IsisImporter is particularly useful for importing Tuxedo txrpt
data from the main Tuxedo environment. In order to do this
you should arrange for the txrpt data to be regularly transferred
to the Isis machine and then use the IsisImporter to import
the data. For more information on setting up scheduled tasks
on your machine, please see the Windows documentation.
Please note when importing txrpt data, that Isis is not able
to detect if the data has already been imported in to the
applications Data Inventory. It is therefore important to
ensure that the data is not imported multiple times, hence
once txrpt data for a particular date range has been imported
in to the Data Inventory, it should be removed to ensure that
it is not imported again.
Parameters for IsisImporter.exe should be passed with a -report=txrpt
style format.
IsisImporter.exe takes the following parameters;
-app
The application that
you wish to import this data in to. If no application
is passed in, then Isis will provide you with a list of
valid applications that you can import data in to.
-site
The name of the site
that the data has come from. If you pass a site name that
is invalid or do not pass a site name then IsisImporter
will return a list of valid sites for the application.
-file
The name of the file that contains the data to import.
-filetype
The type of data that the file contains. For example
a Tuxedo txrpt report file contains data of the type
txrpt. If you do not pass a filetype parameter, then
Isis will provide you with a list of valid file types
for the application.
-log
The IsisImporter tool
will generate a log of all of its operations. If required
you can specify the location of this log file with the
-log parameter.
